About Home Visiting Day in L.A. County
Leading up to the third Friday of April each year, we highlight the life-changing benefits of home visiting for pregnant people and families with young children.

Why Home Visiting Day?
It’s an opportunity to get the word out so more families can benefit from these free services. We also aim to show policymakers and grantmakers that investments in these programs yield enormous and long-lasting returns. And, of course, Home Visiting Day is a chance to recognize and applaud the dedication of trained home visitors for the critical support they provide every day.

What Is Home Visiting?
Early childhood home visiting matches people who are pregnant or have recently had a baby with a support person — often a trained nurse or early childhood specialist. This home visitor helps them during pregnancy and through the early stages of raising a family. Services are free and voluntary and include caregiver coaching and connections to community resources. During the pandemic, home visitors met online with families, but now in-person visits are available again.
Dozens of organizations across L.A. County provide free home visiting services for expectant and parenting families.
