What is Home Visiting Day in L.A. County?
Los Angeles County has the largest home visiting network in the nation. On April 9, 2024, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to proclaim the third Friday in April as Home Visiting Day in L.A. County. See the proclamation. The day is a special opportunity to recognize the hard work of our heroic home visitors — and to spotlight the life-changing results for families who participate in these free programs. We will celebrate the fourth annual Home Visiting Day on April 18, 2025.

What is home visiting?
Early childhood home visiting matches those who are pregnant or have recently had a baby with a support person — often a trained nurse or early childhood specialist. This home visitor helps them during pregnancy and through the early stages of raising a family. Services are free and voluntary, and include caregiver coaching and connections to community resources. During the pandemic, home visitors met online with families, but now in-person visits are available again.
